Fourth of July Beach Party in Hilton Head Island, Beach House | Hilton Head Island Hotel

Fourth of July on Island Time

June 12, 2018 | Activities

On July 4th, 1776, almost 242 years ago, our nation declared Independence from Great Britain. It was the beginning of an epic tale that pretty much led us to what we believe is the best holiday of the year. Well, at least the best holiday that’s less than a month away. Who are we kidding? At the Beach House, Tiki Hut, and The Porch, we don’t ever turn down a reason to celebrate. In fact, all of Hilton Head Island embraces that quintessential ‘island life’ mentality. There’s a lot to be said about a great cocktail, a good party, and live music. We’re here to help make your beach getaway plans even easier this July, so we hunted down some of the best ways to enjoy the long Independence Day weekend island style.

1. Fireworks:

Nothing says Fourth of July like the night sky aglow with colorful fireworks. If you haven’t seen fireworks over the ocean, it’s the perfect year to change that. The reflection over the water, slightly distorted and rippling with the tide, is something special. In addition to the local July 4th fireworks, Hilton Head Island sets fire to the sky all summer long at Shelter Cove’s 30th Annual HarbourFest.

• Harbour Town Fireworks: July 4th at 9:00 pm
Watch fireworks over the iconic Harbour Town Lighthouse and Calibogue Sound. In true Hilton Head Island fashion, we'll celebrate with food and live music before the fireworks show.

• Shelter Cove Harbour: July 4th at 9:15pm
We don’t want to overwhelm you with options, but our little island loves to celebrate.

• 34th Annual Skull Creek 4th of July Celebration Fireworks: July 4th at 9:30 pm
Live entertainment at Hudson’s on the Docks and Skull Creek Boathouse begins at 6:00 pm before fireworks from a barge in the Intracoastal Waterway. Free parking and shuttle service is offered from the Boys & Girls Club on Gum Tree Road. For more details, call 843.681.2772 or visit hudsonsonthedocks.com.

2. 30th Annual HarbourFest: Tuesdays throughout the Summer until August 14th

Summer is one of our four favorite seasons here in Hilton Head, and we put a lot of effort into soaking up every single ray of sunshine. On Tuesday evenings, until August 14th, Shelter Cove Harbour hosts HarbourFest, featuring local musician Shannon Tanner, Cappy the Clown, face painting, bounce houses, games, vendors, and fireworks. That’s right.. fireworks aren’t only for the Fourth of July in Hilton Head Island.

3. Wine Tasting and more at Island Winery

Enjoy wine tasting from a diverse menu, complimentary with any wine purchase, wine by the glass (or, if you’re like us, by the bottle) cheese plates, packages, and unique souvenirs at our island’s very own winery. The artisanal winemaking process begins with fresh fruits, shipped fresh from all over the world, and ends with a hand-bottling process that includes the application of exclusive labels. The results are a bottle of wine as unique as Hilton Head Island itself.

4.One Island, One Community Picnic: July 4th 11:00am-3:00pm

We consider ourselves extremely lucky to be a part of a close-knit community. Come to celebrate Independence Day with the whole island at a family friendly picnic hosted by Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Grace Community Church at the Boys and Girls Club. Come out for slip ‘n slides, dunk tanks, food, and music by local artists, including a Children’s Choir and local favorite Cranford Hollow, and so much more. Shuttles are available from Hilton Head Island High School at 151 Gumtree Rd. RSVP at www.facebook.com/onehiltonhead.

5. Fourth of July Beach Weekend Beach Party at The Beach House Resort: July 4th-July 8th

As usual, we’re here to take a regular beach party and turn it up about 100 degrees. We’re all about helping you live your best life, and it is in our humble opinion that includes getting outside, listening to live music, watching fire dancers, stuffing your face with hot dogs and watermelon, watching aerial silk performers, and living the #nofilterlife for a full five days; this isn’t your average beach party. If you haven’t been to one of the Tiki Hut’s multi-day music fests, now’s the time. We look forward to this party all year; people travel the world over just for this party; you’d be hard-pressed to find a local that won’t make an appearance.

This is the biggest July 4th celebration on Hilton Head Island.

Five days.
Sixty hours.
Twenty live shows.

Welcome to the best Fourth of July ever.
